The Let’s Give It Up Foundation provides individuals a supportive and creative path to recovery through the power of music and the arts. The Serenity Song was created for the play Recovery and has since developed into a creative outlet that gives people in recovery the tools and courage to find their voice and confront their personal struggles with addiction by writing their own lyrics to share their story. Recognizing and acknowledging the causes of substance use disorder allows them to focus on long term recovery.
Recording their lyrics over The Serenity Song or over their own music in a studio with our team of writers, musicians and producers gives them the opportunity to engage in a creative process of self-awareness and rediscovery - of what brings joy and purpose to their lives. Their songs become a touchstone, something simple but powerful to come back to when they might start to waiver and to use as an inspiration for others.
The Let’s Give It Up Foundation and The Serenity Song have been featured in the Massachusetts Drug Court System to inspire participants to commit to the ongoing road of recovery. Let’s Give It Up’s team of talented and dedicated writers, musicians and producers work alongside participants in a community of shared creativity, support, acceptance and love. A background in musical performance or songwriting is not necessary to become a part of that community. All levels of skill and experience are welcome. We have partnered with faculty of the Berklee College of Music to record and produce the songs and with recording studios, educational establishments, and recovery programs nationwide to make this opportunity available to all who wish to participate.
